Salcombe RFC U8s continued their impressive start to the season with an action packed display against Plymouth Argaum RFC on a glorious Sunday morning.
It was a bright start. The Crab's Bodhi had clearly doubled up on his Weetabix as he scored x4 tries during the opening 10 minutes in what was an offensive masterclass from the young crabs.
Harley and Ruben continued where they left last week both grabbing x2 tries a piece and a great finish from Isabella, showing great leg drive as she towed the last ditch tackler over the try line as he took belt rather than tag and hitched a lift in the process.
Defensively it was Alex once again at the spearhead forming a solid wall with Florence, Dotty, Harley and Esmae who twice took x6 Arguam tags to force a turnover. Their defensive pride a joy for all to see, particularly for Coach Dan as the Friday night drills were displayed in full measure.
The game was far from being one sided though as Argaum had Offensive qualities of their own. Tries coming from both wings with some great interplay that kept their scores ticking over within touching distance if the crabs.
The second half showed Dotty doing one of her trademark 'Tiger like' pounces onto the loose ball before weaving past defenders to score the try.
Confident ball carrying by Alex and great support play by Florence helped to get Esmae over the try line, soon followed by Dotty again to end a successful game for the crabs.
All in all it was another top performance from the juniors and one which they should all be proud. Every player contributed to the game as they continue to build a great team ethic. Player of the Match was awarded to Alex for his bullish ball carries and defensive display.
Comments from the sidelines included 'Wow, isn't Ruben fast!', 'Great team display!', and 'You've got a good little team there!'
The young crabs are back in action this Sunday 16th as they host Teignmouth at Twomeads 11am KO.
