Totnes v Salcombe
saturday 6th December 2025
36-28

Salcombe were architects of their own demise this weekend as they travelled to local rivals Totnes, fielding a side disrupted by absences, positional changes and untested combinations. The unsettled lineup showed early, with a lacklustre start allowing Totnes to race 12–0 ahead within the opening fifteen minutes, leaving the visitors looking stunned.
The travelling Crabs eventually sparked into life. Tries from Billy Oram and new signing John Hosier reignited hope, levelling the scores and swinging momentum Salcombe’s way. Three well-struck penalties pushed the visitors into the lead, suggesting a possible turnaround.
But Totnes responded with resilience and regained control of the match. Despite Salcombe throwing everything at them in the final stages, the hosts could not be reeled in, even after being reduced to fourteen men. Their defensive grit proved decisive.
Post-match, coach Sam Dod offered a weary assessment: “Trouble at mill today. We started like a damp squib, and just never got out of the traps.”
Salcombe will aim to put things right when they host Tamar Saracens this coming weekend. With hopes of securing a top-half position by the Christmas break, strong home support will be crucial at Twomeads.
The club extends its thanks to Totnes for their hospitality, and reminds them to keep the 5 Handle Cup warm ahead of the return fixture.
