WW2

With the arrival of the US military in September 1943, Salcombe housed over 2000 personnel some of which were based at the camps located at Twomeads prior to the Normandy Invasion in 1944. It later went to become a German POW camp up until 1946. SRFC finally got the club back to be able to play games on it following extensive levelling work and finally reopened 1st October 1951 with an invitation side playing followed by a slap uop meal at Cliff House.
